Wordier On Demand: Vocabulary Classes You Can Watch Anytime, Anywhere

(6 customer reviews)

Maybe your child is less “read, read, read” and more “play, play, play”; or maybe they’ve been reading all the right books but still don’t know their “cease” from their “seize”.

Either way, our self-paced 11+ vocabulary programme helps sophisticated language finally click.

Price range: £29.00 through £199.00

A live, interactive 11+ vocabulary course taught through weekly online classes.

Wordier Live helps children understand ambitious vocabulary in comprehension texts, use it naturally in creative writing and spot word relationships quickly in verbal reasoning.

Definition

Wordier On Demand is split into 7 modules, each containing 6 structured lessons (that’s 42 lessons and 800+ words in total).

Each module contains 6 hours of video lessons, exploring over 120 carefully selected words through storytelling, pictures, science-backed teaching and built-in revision.

Each lesson includes:

📈 Around 20 carefully-selected 11+ words

👩‍💻 A short introductory activity

👩‍🏫 A one-hour vocab video tutorial

📄 Printable worksheets and practice activities

📱 Revision quizzes and games designed for long-term recall

Each video tutorial guides children through a combination of worksheets, example sentences, pictures and digital quizzes.

Encountering new words in multiple ways helps sophisticated vocabulary feel clearer, more memorable and far easier to use confidently.

Good to know: Wordier On Demand features the same vocabulary content as the Wordier Live courses, with the added flexibility of self-paced learning. Some families choose it instead of live classes, while others use it alongside the live classes to catch up on any modules they missed.

When should children join the course?

Most 11+ students start the course in mid-Year 4 or early Year 5, when there is time to build vocabulary steadily and without pressure.

However, the course is entirely suitable for children joining later in Year 5 or even Year 6.

Starting early makes comprehension texts easier to navigate, boosts confidence in verbal reasoning, and helps creative writing flow more freely.

How will this course help my child?

Science tells us that activities improve vocabulary nearly four times faster than reading alone – but only if you build vocab the right way.

Each 11+ vocabulary course includes:

🔤 Novel vocabulary: Every word on the course is carefully chosen for its 11+ suitability, so children learn vocabulary that is ambitious, useful and genuinely worth knowing.

👥 Interaction: Children test out new vocabulary for themselves, receive expert feedback, and learn from their tutor as well as their fellow Wordies.

🔒 Built-in revision: Words return again and again in different contexts, helping meanings settle deeply rather than disappear after one lesson.

🧩 Morphology: Children learn how words break down into meaningful parts, so unfamiliar vocabulary becomes easier to decode independently.

🖼️ Pictures and video: Visual cues give new vocabulary something to cling to, helping children picture unfamiliar words, remember them more easily and retrieve them later with confidence.

How long does the course last?

Wordier Live follows seven six-week modules across the year. That breaks down into 42 unique sessions, with over 800 carefully chosen words taught along the way.

A fresh module begins at the start of each half-term, with a seventh taught during the summer holidays.

As the modules are self-contained, you’re welcome to start with any module and join us mid-year, provided we have the space.

Mondays:

Summer Term 1 – 5 p.m. from 13 April to 18 May 2026 (5-week course)

Summer Term 2 – 5 p.m. from 1 June to 6 July 2026 (6-week course)

Fridays:

Summer Term 1 – 4:30 p.m. from 24 April to 22 May 2026 (5-week course)

Summer Term 2 – 4:30 p.m. from 5 June to 10 July 2026 (6-week course)

Please see below for full course dates.

From Session 2 onwards, kids can choose to stay online for an extra 10 minutes and take part in our free weekly contest. Each contest features words from the previous session, giving children a great incentive to revise their new vocabulary.

(All times are in B.S.T.)

Wordier began with a tiny vocabulary workbook I wrote for my regular 11+ lessons. Soon enough, pupils were asking for more words, decoding unfamiliar ones with ease and suddenly describing English as a subject they loved rather than dreaded.

As vocabularies strengthened, texts became easier to navigate, ideas flowed more clearly and creative writing began to flourish.

It quickly became clear that vocabulary was not an optional extra but a key part of helping children become more confident and capable learners.

Fast forward many years and those mini-lessons are now a fully-fledged vocab course, with 42 unique, carefully-structured classes to teach vocabulary without the overwhelm.

Our vocabulary courses use the same science-backed methods I developed with those early students, packaged into lessons that are lively, memorable and designed to last.

Wordier On Demand was originally designed for children in Years 4 and 5 preparing for grammar school entrance exams, including the super-selective schools.

The programme features the sort of sophisticated, useful words that pop up regularly in literature, news articles and the world around us. Because of this, it’s also been used successfully with:

  • Children preparing for Year 6 SATs (the course aligns with the SPaG and reading papers)
  • Pupils preparing for the 11+ at the end of Year 5 or beginning of Year 6
  • Secondary-school pupils looking to strengthen their comprehension and creative writing

Wordier On Demand fits around family life. Lessons can be paused, replayed and revisited at a pace that works for your child, whether you prefer a gentle long-term approach or a more intensive plan closer to the exams.

We recommend working through one lesson per week. This gives your child time to absorb the new vocabulary and revisit it using the revision games and quizzes.

Some families prefer a more intensive approach in the run-up to the 11+ exams. In that case, children can comfortably work through one lesson every 4–5 days and complete a full module within a month.

Wordier began with a tiny vocabulary workbook I wrote for my regular 11+ lessons. Soon enough, pupils were asking for more words, decoding unfamiliar ones with ease and suddenly describing English as a subject they loved rather than dreaded.

Choose a pace that works for your family

Most families work through one lesson a week, completing revision activities in the days between sessions.

Modules can, however, be completed more quickly during the school holidays or closer to exams.

SWAP YOUTUBE FOR STRUCTURE

Instead of jumping between random videos and worksheets, your child follows a clear, structured programme with built-in revision.

FLEXIBLE FOR BUSY FAMILIES

Lessons can be paused, replayed and revisited at any time, allowing you to build vocabulary around clubs, holidays and play dates.

WORDS TAUGHT IN CONTEXT

With Wordier, children don’t just memorise definitions.

They explore vocabulary through example sentences, themes, discussion, pictures and storytelling so words feel meaningful and memorable.

NO MORE GUESSWORK

No more searching for word lists, vocabulary apps or the “right” books.

Wordier focuses on the challenging vocabulary that appears regularly in grammar school entrance exams, including the super-selectives.

LEARNING THAT LIGHTS A SPARK

When children feel capable, learning becomes much less of a battle.

Many Wordies begin the course disliking English, only to grow in confidence and develop a genuine love of language. Before long, they’re spotting “Wordier words” everywhere they go.

Why Parents Love Wordier Live

“Our son absolutely loves the online vocabulary lessons! It is a brilliantly organised course and I appreciate the amount of planning that goes into making it an engaging experience.

The learning is already evident in our son’s writing and comprehension of texts outside of the course. This is the first module we have signed up for and our ten-year-old is already asking if he can continue after!”

MAREIKE,

PARENT AND LANGUAGE TEACHER

“M. benefits a lot from Wordier sessions. Her vocabulary is becoming richer and at school she is considered one of the most articulate children.

She was even chosen to represent her school in the Big Debate because of her vocabulary.

M. says she uses a lot of new words from Wordier to impress the school. 😁

For us, Wordier is an essential part of our 11+ prep.”

ANASTASIA, PARENT

“Wordier has been such a breath of fresh air when it comes to vocabulary. They use very clever techniques to keep the children engaged in learning.

My daughter struggles with vocabulary but really enjoys her Friday vocab lessons.

The email beforehand gets the children excited and curious as to what the lesson will entail. I’ve listened in on some of the lessons, and I’ve actually learnt new words and concepts myself!

It’s genius how they know what appeals to children.”

Description

How Wordier On Demand Works

Once you enrol, you’ll receive access to the Wordier learning portal, where all lessons, worksheets, revision games and activities are stored in one organised, easy-to-use space.

Children work through one lesson at a time, starting with a short preliminary activity, which serves as a memory hook for the upcoming class.

After the preliminary activity, they’ll follow a 1-hour video tutorial, learning new vocabulary through pictures, storytelling, example sentences and word patterns. During the lesson, they’ll be prompted to copy the child-friendly definitions from the board and complete short quizzes designed to strengthen long-term recall.

Each module contains six one-hour lessons, alongside bonus workbooks and revision activities to keep learning fresh and engaging.

As children complete each module, they’ll receive a personalised certificate celebrating all their hard work and improvement.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between Wordier Live and Wordier On Demand?

The Wordier Live courses are always delivered live with a tutor at the same time every week. This means children can ask questions and try out new words in sentences so they can get feedback and corrections when needed.

Wordier Live parents usually find that this format is more engaging for their child and, as a result, it is easier to convince the child to attend. They also appreciate having a set schedule for classes, which helps to ensure that learning stays on track.

The Wordier On Demand is the pre-recorded version of Wordier Live. The classes contain the same great content as Wordier Live but without interaction with a tutor.

Wordier On Demand parents tend to favour this format because they can go through several sessions a week rather than waiting for the next class to be held.

Online 11+ vocabulary course comparison chart. Chart details the structure of the weekly classes versus the on-demand video lessons.

Who is this course for?

Classes are aimed at children ages 8 to 11, with a particular focus on Year 4 and 5 students doing the 11+.

Year 6 children are also welcome to attend. Many of our 11+ students love the classes so much that they choose to stay on the course during Year 6, even after they have finished their exams.

What happens if my child doesn’t like the course?

If you find that the course isn’t right for your child at this time, you can use our Joy Guarantee to receive a hassle-free refund on the remainder of the course. Simply email us at hello@wordier.online to receive your refund.

Note: Joy Guarantee applies to Wordier Live only.

Can my Year 3 child join the classes?

We recommend our courses for anyone in Year 4 and above, mainly because they’re fast-paced, involve a fair amount of writing and it might be a little difficult for Year 3s to keep up with. But we have had some energised and ambitious Year 3s complete our courses, so if you think your child is ready, you’re welcome to give them a try. If you do, we recommend that you sit in on their first session, even if it’s just for moral support!

If the class is too challenging, you can use our Joy Guarantee to get a refund for the rest of the module. You can always rejoin when your child’s a little older, with the added benefit of seeing how it works already!

How does the course run?

Each weekly class is delivered live on Zoom by an experienced tutor. 24-48 hours before the class, you’ll receive the worksheets for the week as well as a short preliminary video for your child to watch.

During the class, children’s microphones are muted to avoid students shouting out or monopolising the conversation. This helps us to ensure that all children receive recognition during class and can submit an answer in their own time.

Students are encouraged to submit questions, answers and example sentences via the chat function. Our tutors then acknowledge and respond to these questions in real-time.

We recommend printing the worksheets every week, however, your child can simply use a paper and pencil to follow along if you don’t have access to a printer.

What happens if my child misses a class?

All of our classes are recorded and the recording is sent out to parents the day after the class. You can, therefore, watch the class later in the week.

All parents will receive access to the class recording, whether or not their child attended.

How does the vocabulary contest work?

From Week Two, we’ll run a 10-minute vocab contest at the end of each class, testing kids on words from the previous week. We like to encourage some friendly competition, so our top scorers are awarded with emoji medals.

Do you provide any homework?

Yes. We’ll send out a revision link for the most recent session each week – these include online games and short quizzes to help kids refresh their memories.

Is the vocab on your course the same as the words from your flashcards/workbooks?

There’s a little bit of overlap between our Wordier Live course and our Wordier Tools, but we’ve designed them so there’s lots of variation. Sometimes it’s helpful for kids to see familiar words, but we also want to give everyone lots of words to learn in the most effective way.

How many classes does my child need to do to cover all of the 11+ vocabulary?

There is no official list of 11+ vocabulary, which means that your child’s exam could technically feature any variety of words from the English language. That’s why we recommend completing as many of the Wordier courses and materials as possible. All “Wordier words” have been carefully selected from 11+ past papers, practice papers and our experience in working with over a thousand 11+ students.

Should my child complete vocabulary books from other providers in addition to using Wordier?

Wordier provides a comprehensive vocabulary system, which means children do not need to supplement their Wordier work with vocabulary books from other providers.
